Tea Nicola a finalist for Startup Canada Award

The whole WealthBar (now CI Direct Investing) team is super-stoked and proud of our leader, co-founder, and CEO, Tea Nicola, who we have just learned is a finalist for the Startup Canada Awards. Her daily work ethic, enthusiasm, sense of humor and 3D-chess-playing strategic mind is an inspiration to us all. In addition to pioneering a service-oriented robo-advisor model in Canada, she has been active with Vancouver Entrepreneurs Forum (VEF), Polygot, and Ladies Learning Code. And she does it all while raising a growing family with CTO and co-founder, and husband Chris Nicola. Honestly, we don’t know where she finds the time.

Congratulations, Tea. We’ll leave you with some advice from her from a conversation with Tarah Ferguson, where she talks about the paradox of entrepreneurship:

Invest online with a dedicated financial advisor.

“You need to be confident in what you’re doing while at the same time… questioning yourself every step of the way!

“One thing that isn’t true in business: if you build it, they will come. It’s the biggest myth out there. There’s this idea if I just had the money and the right team and this product and this website, it would be awesome! It would solve all these problems – but no. It doesn’t work that way. You really have to hustle. There’s a lot of things you have to do that’s outside the business model when you start.”

A few minutes today could save you thousands tomorrow.
Start investing in under 5 minutes. No hold music. No paperwork.
